KREATOR keeps getting better with age. "Hordes of Chaos" is a dynamic mix of chugging breaks, Blitzkreig attacks and old school metal mania. Mille's raspy-voiced revelations of the deception put forth by those at the top of the social class pyramid will never get old.

2. ABSU - "Absu" (Candlelight)
The kings of USBM return with their first album in nearly a decade. Proscriptor, a slew of guest musicians and the new incarnation of ABSU created the tightest, most memorable album of the band's career. This self-titled effort is hands down the black metal album of the year!

3. ENSIFERUM - "From Afar" (Spinefarm)
A fantastic Finnish speed metal odyssey with folk music overtones. From Afar proves ENSIFERUM worthy of the pagan/folk metal crown, a high honor considering how infectious this style has become.

4. SUIDAKRA - "Crógacht" (SPV)
SUIDAKRA is another great band playing pagan/folk metal. "Crógacht" follows a similar path as ENSIFERUM in the style of metal they play, but the old world orchestrations are from a Celtic standpoint. This is mandatory listening for any fan of epic metal.

5. SHRINEBUILDER - "Shrinebuilder" (Neurot)
SHRINEBUILDER is a doom metal superstar group featuring members of SLEEP/OM, MELVINS, NEUROSIS and ST. VITUS (and all the other projects involving Wino). The group's self-titled debut smoothly blends all the influences of its musicians, resulting in a sludgy, psychedelic, stoner-rocking masterpiece.

6. MY DYING BRIDE - "The Lies I Sire" (Peaceville)
The kings of depressive, death doom return with another bi-polar goodie. This time, the group brought back the violin from their early years. "The Lies I Sire" is a stirring opus that runs the cycle of anger, sadness and grief.

7. MARDUK - "Wormwood" (Regain)
Since Mortuus took over microphone duties, MARDUK's music has become more diverse and experimental. "Wormwood," Mortuus' third album, shows the band revisiting morbid, cult-of-death themes with haunting atmospheres, but never turning its back on the hyper blasting assault that is trademark of the MARDUK sound (and attitude).

8. ASPHYX - "Death…the Brutal Way" (Ibex Moon/Century Media)
Dutch death/doom legends ASPHXY return to create their first album in nearly a decade. "Death…the Brutal Way" also shows sandpaper-voiced Martin Van Buren coming back to recreate the bloody horrors of war.

9. NILE - "Those Whom the Gods Detest" (Nuclear Blast)
"Those Whom the Gods Detest" offers more technical death metal and Middle Eastern instrumentation. NILE pounces with an explosive velocity, while sucking its listeners into a vacuum of crawling doom.

10. GOATWHORE - "Carving Out the Eyes of God" (Metal Blade)
This N.O.L.A. super group featuring ex and current member of SOILENT GREEN, ACID BATH and CROWBAR made a career-defining album in "Carving Out the Eyes of God." The said album unleashes hell's creations with a viral mix of thrash, black and death metal.

Jak widać na mojej liscie, rocznik 09' obfitował głównie w produkcje z pod znaku 'core'. Wiecie jak to jest - czas leci do przodu, wymalowane kolory pandy na twarzach muzyków black metalowych już tak nie ciesza co kiedys, jednostajnosć oraz kalkowanie starej szkoły już nudzi, a klasyki gatunku nagrywajace 10-ta prawie taka sama płytę jak poprzednia denerwuja (tak, tak mowa o Asphyx).....zatem szukałem nowych doznań oraz niecodziennych nagrań i kapel. Lecz spokojnie, nie martwcie się - na classic & BM także znalazłem czas i z wielka uwaga przesłuchałem.

A więc co tam się działo w płyciorach w tym roku....

BLACK METAL - mało tego odsłuchałem... może w międzyczasie, jakies płyciory się przewinęły, ale skoro nie pamiętam nawet nazw, to daję sobie spokój. Jesli chodzi o najlepsza CD, waham się między Anaal Nathrakh, gdzie panowie pokazali po raz kolejny, jak powinno się grać dobra napierdalankę, jednoczesnie łaczac ja z klimatem i epickimi refrenami, a Enfold Darkness, gdzie pewnie częsć z Was zarzuci mi iż nie jest to czysty BM...no tak, ja też jestem straszny pozer (hehe), co nie zmienia faktu, iż Enfold Darkness to genialne połaczenie post-black metalu z neoklasycyzmem Necrophagist oraz klimatem Abigail Williams. Do tego wielkie zaskoczenie ze strony Nokturnal Mortum - niesamowity krażek.

DEATH METAL & GRIND - niezle sieknęli w tym roku. Cannibale wydali kontynuację dwóch poprzedniczek i stoja w miejscu od lat, jak piramidy w Gizie - zanudzili mnie cholernie. Slammingowcy z Devourment oraz Disfiguring the Goddess przyszykowali nam swoje najlepsze dzieła - miota i gwałca mi uszy srednio raz na kilka dni. Klasyczne Vader, Suffo, czy Napalmi nie wyłamali się specjalnie ponad swoja przeciętna, choć nagrali niezłe Cdki. Na medale zasługuja DtG oraz Obscura, która poszła do przodu od ostatniego wydawnictwa o 20000 mil swietlnych. Jak wczesniej wspomniałem Asphyx zanudził mnie na smierć, a kult dla kultu (bo chyba tak to działa w ich wypadku?) jest dla mnie nonsensem.

DEATHCORE - tu najgłosniej u mnie. Przeciwnicy niech sobie pomina ten dział podsumowania, bo po co sobie marnować nerwy ludziska? Swiniaki atakuja w tym roku z wieloma genialnymi płytami! Zaczynajac od BOO, Despised Icon, TBDM, JFAC czy Winds of Plague - czyli JUŻ klasyków gatunku, którzy nagrali swoje najlepsze Cdki, do debiutów jak The Prevalent Reaping, czy Miss May I, które rzucaja mna o scianę (i to nie dlatego, że mało ważę, hehe). Rok niesamowity, a kapel i młodziaków wciaż się mnoży. I dobrze - zachód już dawno zrozumiał - nie badzmy w tyle.

Jesli o DOOM METAL chodzi, to nie jest to zupełnie moja materia metalu I takie płyciory jak Katatonia, czy Swallow The Sun nie podchodza mi do końca... kiedys ta Katatonia przynajmniej metalowo brzmiała, a teraz...?

HARD & HEAVY METAL to nie moja półka również niestety. Ponoć powychodziło wiele dobroci, jednak ja się w tym nie mogę odnalezć...z tego co zdażyłem obadać to 3 Inches of Blood nagrało straszna zamułę w porównaniu z poprzedniczkami, a i panowie z Heaven & Hell się nie popisali energetycznym materiałem - legendy powinny wiedzieć kiedy zejsć w chwale ze sceny. Pan Rob Halford zamiast przywrócić sobie blask po ostatnim wydawnictwie Judas Priest, nagrał najgorszy solowy album z jakimis pseudo kolędami...

HARDCORE - a w sumie to HC + Post-HC, hehe. Nic nadzwyczaj zaskakujacego. Ciekawy debiut This Distance oraz dosć specyficzna I dziwna płyta Hatebreed. It Prevails dodało melodyjne wokale co zaskoczyło mnie totalnie, no ale cóż - nie powiem, że jest zle... chłopaki ida z duchem czasu. W tym roku narobiło się dosć dużo kapel post-hardcore, które ładuja w siebie dużo elektroniki - fajny zabieg, zobaczymy jak się to rozwinie w przyszłosci.

INDUSTRIAL METAL - debesciak to oczywiscie System Divine I ich debiucik EP. Wokaliza Aborted + damskie wycie, jak najbardziej na plus. Sam nie wiem jak zapatrywać się na nowego Samaela... od kilku lat przyzwyczaili mnie już do swojego nowego stylu, a tu nagle bum! I mamy znów skłonnosci w stronę black metalu. Mało tego wyszło w 2009, albo ja słabo się poorientowałem.

MELODIC DEATH METAL - Co tutaj? Arch Enemy i COB odgrzało trochę kotletów zza starych czasów... niezbyt udany zabieg. Disarmonia prócz niezłej EP dowaliła najlepszym MDM'owym albumem 2009, a jedyna załoga która starała się ich dogonić w tym kunszcie jest Scar Symmetry (zajebista płyta). Pozostałe załogi nie wysiliły się za bardzo, choć jesli miałbym cos wybierać z reszty to pewnie Hypocrisy i Nightrage, bo nie traca na energii z czasem, a Peter Tägtgren przywalił pięscia w twarz dla ludzi kpiacych z jego wyczynów w Pain i pokazał jak tworzy się następców "Slaughter of the Soul".

METALCORE - Dużo tego wyszło w tym roku i pewnie nie ogarnałem nawet 10% debiutów i starych wyjadaczy, ale cóż...nikt nie jest doskonały Najlepszy metalcorowy album to z pewnoscia nowe dzieło Evergreenów, które zabija melodiami i genialnymi kompozycjami - jest energia, polot i hity, czego chcieć więcej? Dla Chimairy zachciało się gonić za ideami Gojiry i groove metalu, nawet fajna sprawa. FAFD dzięki zmianie wokalisty stanęło na nogi i nagrało swój najlepszy album, a i kompozycje ruszaja człowiekiem.

FOLK, VIKING & PAGAN - Kiedys bardziej się zasłuchiwałem w tych klimatach, a i na Wolinie zdarzyło się być kilka razy (hehe), teraz z większym dystansem, lecz z uwaga przesłuchałem kilkanascie płyt. Z mainstreamu najlepsza notę zyskali u mnie Tyr oraz Ensiferum, podczas, gdy 'mało znane, lecz kochane' podziemie podniosło u mnie rangę dzięki trzeciej płycie niemieckiego Fjoergyn.

PROGRESYWNE granie słabo w tym roku, badz też nie skupiłem się porzadnie na nim... np. Nowy projekt Lucassena wciaż czeka na odsłuch. Nie mam zatem z czego wybierać. Dream Theater nie nagrało raczej niczego rewelacyjnego jak na nich. Nie mówię, że złe...zajebiste, lecz wiem, że stać ich na więcej. Mastodon w zamian poszybował wyżej i jak to się mówi 'pchnie metal do przodu' - genialna płyta.

THRASH METAL - Tak, tak - wiem. Opusciłem się w tym temacie i to mocno. Shadows Fall króluje w tym roku u mnie na liscie przebojów, zaraz po nim Municipale. Z najmłodszych fajnie dowalili chłopaki z Warbringera (czyżby supportowanie Suffocation wyszło im na dobre?). Rudy z Megadeth przyszykował nam powtórkę z rozrywki, a dokładnie z poprzedniej LP. Slayer jak to Slayer - "napierdalać"..."SITA" dla mnie już nie dogonia. Kreator dalej stara się być bardziej nowoczesny i wcišż stosuje metodę "dodajmy więcej melodic death'owych riffów" - podoba mi się taki proces.

Tak to u mnie wygladało w zeszłym roku. Prócz nowosci obracał się u mnie głównie Aborted i starocie jak Fear Factory, czy Cryptopsy. Nadziejami na rok 2010 obarczam głownie Borknagar, Necrophagist. Whitechapel, Soilwork, Arcturus oraz Decrepit Birth. Z koncertowych marzeń poproszę Aborted oraz Symphony X. Alleluja.

Na dole dokładna rozpiska co mnie uwiodło najbardziej w płytach.
